haha thanks! I was really disappointed when they didn't have this shot in the movie. It was what i was looking forward to the most. But, seeing as how Snyder is really true to the angles of the book, i'd say he would've gone straight on instead of what i did.

"stood in firelight, sweltering bloodstain on chest like map of violent new continent"

One of the most epic scenes in the book, but any scene involving Rorschach is epic.

I knew as soon as I saw the bloodstain and the glow of the fire on him that this was the moment where he watches the old garment place burn.

It's amazing. Everything about it looks so flawless and beautiful, and I think it really fits Rorschach's character.

I need to buy some gouache. This is great...it seems so non-nonchalant somehow, like it's so calm and everyday and then it hits you that it's a masked man in a blood-stained trench coat...

I've heard from people that they can't work with gouache or that they hate it. They usually prefer watercolour. I haven't used watercolour much, myself, but watercolour is a lot easier to manage but the colour isn't nearly as vibrant. If you're interested in gouache you should really look at Alex Ross. He's basically my art idol.

Alex Ross is the man! Marvels is definitely one of the most under appreciated Graphic novels ever.

let me guess this takes place when Rorschach chained that man to a pipe and set the house of fire, and he is across the street looking for a man to walk out.

Exactly. Glad that i didn't have to spell it out. I wonder how they're going to interpret this scene in the movie...assuming that put this scene in there.

Knowing the director it'll be there, also when he said in a interview about it getting a R rating he said " you can't get have scenes, with little girls getting fed to dogs, without an R rating"

Hey, Thanks! It didn't turn out like how i wanted it to though. This is actually supposed to be the moment when he watches the kidnapper's house burn down and makes sure that nobody survives. I tried to make the lighting yellow/orange-y so that it looked like the light source was fire but at least you like it.

love the style. and the coloring. and the detail of the splash of blood on his mask. also, looks weirdly vacant. creepy, actually. not sure why. i'd love to get a hand on his journal, wouldn't you? bet it's a fascinating read.

yeah, i tried to make it look kind of creepy but i don't think the look of light from a fire is totally there. I wanted to put more blood but then that would probably make the painting too confusing. I bet his journal's complex and hard to read. I wonder how they're going to play on that journal in the movie.
