'Today is Your Wedding Day'

I've had this image burned into my brain for years when the 1st episode of Season 2 of the X-Men cartoon (Til Death Do Us Part 1) came out. Wolverine in a tux. And he get's blasted and his clothes are stylistically torn. I had to take some artsy-license and change the fuchsia commerbund and bow tie.

Question for anybody: Does Wolverine's facial hair/over-grown muttonchops naturally grow ONLY at the sides or does he shave his upper lip and chin? He purposely has a reverse goatee?
